Cross-hatching is a rare drawing technique first used in the middle ages. It is well-known due to works by artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, and even Leonardo da Vinci among others. In the 1800’s Van Gogh even used cross hatching to add texture to his backgrounds with fine brush lines in color.
Early in my career as an illustrator I began using a radiograph pen on illustration board and have loved making lines ever since. Today, with a Wacom pen on a Cintique tablet I can make lines on multiple layers and transform each in multiple ways. Leonardo would have loved this tool.. Today he would likely, have invented it. These are cross hatch paintings done for my, mostly illustrated book. "THE PERFECT PLACE" Available on Amazon. |
